Jonathan has fought his entire adult life for working men and women and the values of the Democratic Party
Jonathan is currently a member of the Newburgh City Council, where he has championed infrastructure repair especially fixing the terrible streets. Not satisfied with the status quo, Jonathan did his homework and found $250,000.00 which Newburgh did not realize it had coming to it from the State for additional street paving.
Early in his career, Jonathan served as an Assistant Counsel to the Speaker of the New York State Assembly and was assigned to the Labor Committee where he researched and wrote legislation. Later, as an Assistant New York State Attorney General, he headed the Consumer Frauds Bureau at the Poughkeepsie Regional Office protecting the people of New York State from fraudulent and illegal business practices. He continued his public service career as a New York State Workers’ Compensation Law Judge.
Jonathan is perhaps most well known as former Orange County Committee Chair for 22 years. During his tenure, Orange County elected its first Democratic and only woman County Executive. During that time, the Jonathan led Orange County Democrats in the takeover of the County Legislature with its first Democratic Legislative Chair.
Jonathan’s involvement in the Democratic Party does not end there. He has served in various positions ranging from a member of the Orange County Democratic Committee to being a State Committee member representing the Orange County portion of the 104th Assembly District. Jonathan also was the chair of the City of Newburgh Democratic Committee. He also served as a delegate to three Democratic National Nominating Conventions.
In the early 1990’s, Jonathan headed the City of Newburgh Charter Review Commission and wrote a proposed new charter for the City.
Jonathan started his own law firm and is a practicing attorney focused on representing workers in Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability cases.
Jonathan is a product of the Newburgh public school system having graduated from Newburgh Free Academy (NFA). He graduated from Duke University, cum laude, with Honors in Political Science, and continued his education at New York Law School, where he graduated with his Juris Doctor degree.
Jonathan is ready to bring his four decades of legal, public service and political experience to work for all of the residents of the 104th Assembly District for a better New York State.
